Neville’s celebration may have gone down well with the Ammies, but fans on Twitter have called the 48-year-old an embarrassment and some even questioned the sincerity of his reaction.
‘Embarrassing, nearly as bad as people at a matching filming themselves when a goal goes in’, said one post about Neville’s celebration.

Others double-downed on how genuine they thought Neville was, with some labelling it a ‘fake celebration’ and ‘forced’. While one post went a step further by stating ‘This is no normal person’s reaction to anything’.
However, Neville did explain his actions to one user who questioned how quickly he managed to get his phone out when the winner went in. Crediting his speediness to an alert on his phone from a live app notification.
Neville tweeted ‘Yes because we’d just equalised and my Flash score came up winner 5 secs before it came on stream. Enjoy your night cos I am’.
