Over the years, I learned another little handy trick that seems to help when it comes to saving money on parts for my car. You know all of those old “buy here, pay here” car lots? Well, if you run into one that is locally owned, you may get a little deal on any spare parts that they have laying around. Many times, these spare parts are just lying around and cannot be used for anything in the lot. The owners of these little side car dealerships love to make a fast buck and are often more than willing to part with a few vehicle parts to make some fast cash.
Every junk yard is a little different with regard to pricing. And the amount you can expect to save will vary based on the type of item you’re looking for. For example, car seats may carry higher savings than fuel pumps. As a general rule, you should expect to pay 40% to 50% less than you would for a comparable new unit. A brand new “straight-from-the-box” alternator might cost $200. At a pull-a-part used cars, you should expect to pay $100 to $120 for the same brand and model.
Your local online classifieds: Try searching through a site like Craigslist if there is a board for where you live (or don’t mind driving to). Craigslist is full of people who are looking to buy and sell car parts online. There is even a specific board just for car parts listings. With a few simple emails, you might be able to find exactly the part you are looking for, or with someone who knows how to find it.
Repairing is not an easy job, especially if you have to travel around town searching for the right part without your vehicle. Taking your car to the garage may not always be a feasible solution. If this is the case, then simply buy parts for cars online. Easily repair and replace service parts, braking, engine parts, transmission, electrical & lighting and cooling & heating components.
Destroying the clunkers will remove hundreds of thousands of used cars from the market. It will remove millions of auto parts from the market. Consequently used car and auto parts prices will go up. Lower income people don’t buy new cars, they buy used cars (but so do I). They also repair their cars with used auto parts. So, this program hurts the poor.
Lastly, price is another great reason to shop online. This is due to competition. Auto parts dealers in certain neighborhoods simply do not have a lot of competition. When consumers have limited options, this means that those businesses can charge a higher price to benefit from this lack of competition.
Keep in mind, guys, that the men who do usually have a lot of confidence are usually arrogant and ungentlemanly. Not all of them, of course, but the majority of them. You can show her you have Special Confidence and that you are not a jerk.
